Choosing a Large Bedside Cot

Bedside cots (also known as co-sleepers or bassinets) are designed to allow parents to rest with their baby at night without risk of SIDS. They are only recommended up to 6 months, after which your baby is ready to be moved to an actual cot.

Mehack, a MFM home tester, was impressed by the fact that this model has an integrated bassinet that can be used throughout the home. It also has a manual rocking feature. It was easy to assemble and it came with a travel bag.

Size

Cots and cot beds vary in size, with cots being smaller than cot beds. They also often convert into toddler beds, whereas cot beds are generally only used up to three years old. If you're opting for a wooden cot, there are typically two sizes to choose from both large and standard both of which will convert into a cot/toddler bed. Selecting the larger of the two is a good idea when you want your child to sleep in it until they are +/- three.

Jasmine is an MFM mum who tested the product at home, was pleased that it was a bit bigger than a Moses' basket but still not too big for her baby’s room. She says that it is easy to lift the baby into and out of the cot for night feedings or soothing, and that its quality is superior to others she has seen that are less sturdy.

Emily, another home tester, loves the versatility of the Maxi-Cosi Lora - it is a portable, lift-off bassinet. It also rocks. It also has an incline for reflux and a machine washable liner that breathes. It was also shortlisted for the 2021 Mother&Baby awards for Best Cot, Crib or Moses Basket. Unlike some International or European cot brands The Lora can be fitted with South African cot mattresses so you don't need to purchase another mattress as your baby grows. Height

When you are choosing a crib that is bedside make sure it can be adjusted to a comfortable height for Large Bedside Cot you. It must also be able of being dropped down out of the way so that you can lift your baby closer to you during night feedings or for soothing. There are also models which can be made into a cot bed or toddler bed (or both) which is ideal when your child is ready to move to a bigger bed.

The Tutti Bambini CoZee Air For instance was awarded Bronze at the 2021 Mother and Baby Awards in the Best Cot Moses Basket or Crib category. It is a swivelling base that allows you to take your baby to the crib and move them to the opposite side of the crib without getting out of the bed. This is perfect for new mums recovering from Caesarean sections or who have to remain in bed for long periods of time. MFM mum home tester Jasmine was awed by this feature, saying that it was easy to use and made her baby much more manageable especially after a c-section.

Another alternative is the Chicco Next2me Magic, which won Gold at the 2021 Mother&Baby Awards for the category of Best Cot, Crib or Moses Basket. It comes with an easy-to-clean liner, reflux incline and rocking function. It's slightly larger than some of the other cribs that we've looked at, but it folds flat in its travel bag, so it's relatively compact when not in use.

MFM mum home tester Leya loved the practicality of this crib for bed, describing how it was designed with the needs of parents and children in mind. It is lightweight and easy to move. Its swivelling base is fantastic as it means you can move the bassinet from side to side and one of its sides can be lowered down to ease access - particularly for new mums who are recovering from C-sections,' she added.

Safety

A large bedside crib that turns into cot cot's main security characteristic is the fact that it can easily be raised or lowered so parents can reach their baby to feed or comfort them, or change his or his or her nappy. This makes it ideal for mothers who are still recovering from a C section. In its NPR in its NPR, the CPSC looked into the possibility of adding additional requirements for sleepers in bed, such as the requirement that these products satisfy the minimum side height requirement for bassinets, or at the very least, meet the maximum height requirement for the lowered side rail. However, the CPSC concluded that such requirements would not be practical or effective in reducing the amount of instances in which infants were trapped between the bedside sleeper and the adult bed.

A majority of the incidents mentioned in the NPR focused on multi-use bedside cots uk sleepers that can be transformed into different types of furniture, like play yards or bassinets. Several commenters suggested that the CPSC include in the proposed rule a different provision for multi-use bedside beds to allow them to meet the minimum side-height requirements for bassinets using a removable attachment that can be connected permanently or disconnected when the product is not being used as an actual bassinet.

The CPSC is examining these comments and others received in response to the NPR regarding bedside sleeping. The Commission will consider these comments when it decides on the final rule which is expected to be published in November of 2021.
