WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades can give you an increase in certain statistics. Each upgrade increases the level of an item by 3. Each upgrade also boosts an unspecified substat.

Upgraded gear generally sees greater value for trade regardless of whether it has low requirements (like the FB sorc's shield) or a very high stat variance (like the eth titan weapons). The latter see less value from upgrading due to the need to roll to get a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item Level Upgrade upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by offering the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied on any type of weapon or armor. The item used to upgrade the item will be consumed and can't be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create the enchantments.

The upgrader is located in all major cities, and can be visited anytime to upgrade item your equipment. To keep your gear up-to-date it is recommended that you visit the upgrader each several weeks.

The cost of upgrades will depend on the current item level of the equipment being upgraded but they will always be less expensive than purchasing new equipment from other sources. For instance upgrading a chest piece from Benthic to ilvl 385 will cost 20 recycle points while purchasing the same item upgrader kit from another player will costs 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used to purchase tools, armor, weapon, and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased by players from NPCs of item upgraders in a variety of currencies. They are also available on random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be applied to any tool, weapon, or armor. The button will show a preview of an item's next upgrade level, in the event that there are enough materials.

Upgrade costs vary depending on the item slot, and the current item level. For instance weapons are more expensive than gloves, bracers or bracers. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones and a few crests, with some upgrades having a discount to lower the cost of the Flightstones or the crests used. Once an item is upgraded to a certain degree it can be re-downgraded and sold to the upgrader for a lower price.

Many locations have upgraders for their items in addition to the main island and some outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade discount as well as a chance to obtain a new upgrade recipe. For instance, when a piece of equipment reaches the highest level of upgrading for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic), it won't need Flightstones to be upgraded. This change is designed to allow players to upgrade their gear up to the highest ilvl possible for all their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.

Another notable modification is that crests have one purpose, so it's important to use them properly.
